  • Arts & Crafts: projects emphasizing creativity/technique and most importantly “trying” rather than final outcome.
  • Music: daily use of songs, rhymes, poems, instruments or recorded music.
  • Science: activities that encourage investigations, observing, discovering and problem solving. Example: mixing, growing a plant, bug hunts, etc.
  • Math: counting is a part of every day. Other activities involving concepts such as volume, size, shape, and measurements.
  • Language Arts: Story Time will occur daily. Children will be encouraged to participate in group conversations, social conversations, story telling, and role-play.
  • Outdoor Play: We will go outside daily, weather permitting (if it’s too cold for students, we will remain indoors). On days when we can not get outside, we will have activities planned for large muscle development.

Spanish Language Immersion Overview

Beginning in September, we will start by learning daily routines and vocabulary needed to communicate in Spanish. Activities will include pictures of vocabulary that will indicate the children how to independently execute a routine at first, later on verbally and in Spanish. We will not leave our monolingual students in the dark, and always let them know that at the end we can all speak English. Our scholars will gradually immerse themselves fully into the Spanish language through our well thought out individualized lessons, whole group and small group activities. Our goal is to immerse our students in a fun and discrete way that by June we will be all speaking Spanish.

Our Preschool Spanish Immersion program is designed to create a curiosity towards learning another language rather than an expectation. Plenty of pictures, pointing, and hand movements, we will be able to communicate with each other. This month will also be a time to get to know one another, our materials and school routines. We are so happy to be in this position, and so excited to watch our progress.
